In August 2014, The Netherlands launched its ‘Comprehensive Action Programme to Combat Jihadism: Overview of Measures and Approaches’, jointly published by Ministry of Security and Justice, National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism, Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

This action programme has three objectives: to protect democracy and the rule of law, to combat and weaken the jihadist movement in the Netherlands and to remove the breeding ground for radicalisation.

Measures outlined in the action plan include; interventions to reduce the ability of individuals to travel abroad to commit terrorism-related offences; new measures to combat the dissemination of radicalising, hatred-inciting and violent jihadist content; and strengthening methods of information exchange and cooperation.
